Boosterthon

Friday in our Bulldog folders we will be sending out information about the exciting fundraiser B.W.E. has called Boosterthon. The children participate in a fun run to raise money for the school. Part of the event has to do with our door decoration. Wendy Nieto, our room mom, will be contacting you soon to see if you can help donate decorations and/or help decorate the door. Our theme for my classroom will be Mrs. Cox's Highway Patrol. I updated my teacher wishlist and am posting a working link because several of you let me know that you could not find it. Here it is:

Thanks again for everything, and be on the lookout for progress reports in Bulldog folders, also.
We are going to start setting up Parent/Teacher conferences very soon! Have a fantastic rest of the week!

More Reading week!

Reading for a better life was so much fun! We had athletes from the local High Schools come and read to our class, and the children were just in awe of these tall young men and women that visited.
Thank you for donating hats and/or money to the Heavenly Angels Foundation; I am sure they will be very thankful, also.
Here we are with our hats in Reading for a Better life campaign!

Oh and if you notice in the background, we are now spelling out "Popsicle" to earn a Popsicle party for good group behavior in the hallways. We have earned two compliments so we have two letters. The popcorn party was a hit and listening to their wild ideas about the kind of party they wanted to have was pretty funny.
Homework went out today in red folders, please send it back on Friday.
Our author visit is on Thursday and the Kindergarten team is asking for parents not to visit at lunch time that day as we will be eating in our classrooms.
You may send in the headphones for the laptops when you can; we are using the Laptop cart sometime soon in October.
The winners of the month for Bulldog Best are Carlos and Alana. They have shown the character trait of "Respect" all month long.  They get to participate in the popcorn party and award ceremony on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
Thanks again for everything that you do and for being an important part of B.W.E. because as Dr. Butler says in the announcements every day "B.W.E. is the best place to be!"

Reading Week/Hat Day

Reading for a better life! Red day

Star of the Week

We are loving our Stars of the week! The first star was Carlos and he brought in a special friend named Mr. Cuddles. Mr. Cuddles hung out with us and enjoyed reading with the class.

Teacher Wish List

Hope that everyone is doing well! I have recently updated my teacher wish list for this semester. If you have the opportunity to donate any of these items to our classroom we would greatly appreciate it. One of the things that we must have in order to use our WOW Cart (which is a cart with a laptop for every child) is a set of headphones for every student. Please send in a set of headphones for your child in a labeled Ziploc bag when you get a chance. They can be the ear bud kind or the regular headset kind.
Thank you in advance for all that you do!
Below is a link to my wish list and if you have trouble seeing it you can go to the school website and then teacher wish lists.

Snacks and Water bottles

Snack time has been going very well with almost everyone eating from the snack provided by myself or donated by Parker's family, Carlos's family, and Peyton's family for the last two weeks.
Carlos, our Star of the Week, has generously provided snack for the whole week. The children always have the choice of eating from the classroom snack or from their personal snack.
  • If your child is the Star of the Week and you are providing snack for the week or if you are sending snack for your child, here are some suggestions:
cheerios
Ritz crackers
Honey Graham Crackers
apple jacks
animal crackers
gold fish
fruit loops
oyster crackers
cheese-its
popcorn
pretzels
Please do not send products with peanut butter due to allergies.
If you are sending snack for the whole class please make sure that there is enough snack for 24 students.
Thank you for feeding our hungry tummies!

Water bottles
Would you please make sure your child has a labeled water bottle in school every day? It is still hot outside and we like our water.

Updates

Hello my shining families,
Two weeks flew by in the Shining Stars' room! We have learned routines and procedures! Your children are behaving so well that they are one letter away from earning a popcorn party! As a whole group reward, every time another teacher compliments their behavior as a class in the hallways, in specials, or in our own room, they earn a letter to a word we have previously chosen. This time it was popcorn, so they are smelling those kernels!
Thank you for sending in boxtops, picture day money, and money for the dollar campaign. I have received those things and turned them in.
I was not able to send the blog permission form last week but it is going home this week for sure. I will also upload it here to my blog in case you miss it.
Important reminders:
Please make sure your child eats something for breakfast as our snack is not until 11:00 am and our lunch at 12:25.
Remember to check and empty out folders daily, please.
Homework:
We sent out homework packets yesterday. They are not due back until Friday. The math homework is in the math books you received for Open House.
Thank you for all that you do for your child and our classroom.
Our Shining Star of the Week is Carlos and we thank his family for the yummy snacks.
Take care and catch up with you later!
Mrs. Cox
