A big thank you to Mrs. Tidwell for organizing our Parent volunteers and for her time helping me out~ I love parental involvement! If you signed up as a classroom volunteer Mrs. Tidwell will contact you within the next two weeks so we can start some rotations going on! Also be on the look-out for a sheet going home regarding reading day and volunteer readers.
Have an awesome and fabulous week!!

What have we been up to this week?

New Bulldogs in Mrs. Cox's class have been working with:
Letter: Mm (practice the /m/ sound, finding Mm, and writing Mm correctly)
Sight words: a, I, the (practice reading and writing these words daily)
Color: red (practice spelling and identifying red items)
Books: Huggles Breakfast, My Mm Book (practice reading daily)
Math: shapes-circle, square, rectangle, triangle, oval

Thank you so much for the great turnout last night for parent information night! I enjoyed seeing so many of you come and get all the great information that we need to make this a successful year. If by any chance you could not make it to the meeting, be on the lookout for the slide-show print-out of what we talked about going home in the Friday folders.

A big thank you to Frankie's mom and dad for the cookies and water they sent in for last night, and also thank you to Jacob's parents for the packages of soda-scented and cookie-scented lip balms we are going to use for smellies!!!

A little extra:
Please remember to send water in sport bottles  to keep their little brains hydrated, (they can sip on) if possible, and to send juice for lunch only. Just a reminder that we do have severe allergies in my classroom and I would prefer nut-free foods at snack and lunch. If you are sending peanut butter or nut products, please help me educate the children on how careful they need to be : they cannot share food, they cannot touch anyone while they are eating , and they need to wash their hands with soap and water immediately after they eat.

Our goal is to make your child be as independent as he/she possibly can be (age appropriately, of course) so please practice these things at home:

-Bus number that they ride if they are a bus rider
-Know complete first and last name (orally and written)
-Practice shoe-tying
-Unbutton and button or zip/unzip pants (please send clothes that fit appropriately -not too tight, not too loose, so they can go to the bathroom by themselves)

Thank you again for almost two wonderful weeks of kindergarten! We have several parent volunteers that Mrs. Tidwell (Our very own PTO mommy) will call to set up rotations starting late September.
If there is any question, doubt, praise, or concern that you may have please let me know by calling or emailing me at jmcox@conroeisd.net.
Have a wonderful rest of your week!!
