Hello Shining stars and families
I am so glad that we are back in school after our two snow days and the children are also very happy going back into our routine. I was not able to send guided reading books this week, but please continue to log in to www.raz-kids.com to read and earn points;those books also count for the reading log in our Guided Reading folder. I am already seeing great results with the students that are logging in and reading at home every day. I will send out books again next week.
In Language Arts : We have been learning about digraphs (two letters that make a sound), and you may have heard how we have changed our names as we study them. For example I was Mrs. Thox (while we learned about th), Mrs. Shox (sh) and this week I am Mrs. Chox (ch).
In writer's workshop we have been adding story language words to our stories so they learn to transition for example for the beginning of the story they use one of these words or phrases : One day, One hot day, Long ago,. Last night, etc.
For the middle of the story they may use one of these words or phrases: Next, Suddenly, Then
For the end of the story they may write : Finally, At last
Please practice writing stories every day. We are working on leaving finger spaces, using punctuation, writing neatly (so others can understand), using vowels in every word and spelling sight words correctly.
In Math: We are reviewing patterns. For extra practice you can do pages 27-37 in student workbook if you would like your child to continue reviewing at home.
In Social Studies: We are learning about chronogical order. Today we made a storyline about our lives.
In Science: We are studying about conservation. The example that we saw today was about a girl recycling bottles.
Thank you so much for always being on top of things and for your support.
Your partner in Education,
Johanna Cox
P.S. We are running out of glue bottles and glue sticks, if you go to the store would you please pick us up some? Thank you!!!!
